The latest...

(note: I'm posting this anyway...even though Joshua just put up an update...cuz, well, I didn't know that he had posted before I typed this all out...)

So we saw the doc yesterday to do an initial evaluation of Joshua's hand. The good news is that the lower tendon in his finger seems to be perfectly fine. The bad news is that the top one...not so much. The doc seemed to think that it's pretty likely that the tendon is disconnected. Good times. So, Joshua is taking the weekend to rest and let his hand heal up a smidge. Then, on Wednesday we will see the hand surgeon for another evaluation visit. This time, he will decide whether or not surgery will be necessary to repair the damage in the finger. It is possible, although not probable, that the tendon is not severed. If that is that case, Joshua will just need rest, healing, and physical therapy to regain full function. If it is severed, then he will need all of the aforementioned things as well as surgery to reattach the tendon. Yee haw! He is being a really good sport about all of this (although he is quite annoyed that it happened in the first place). The worst part about all of this currently is that he's is not able to play with Ainsley. Secondary to that, he can't wash dishes, use both hands for anything that one needs two hands for (opening medicine bottles, putting on socks, etc), and he's pretty wiped out from the combination of pain meds and trauma. All things considered, though, things could be way worse. At least it's just a pinkie and not the whole hand...or arm. Or...it could have been Ainsley putting some apendage through one of the windows. Or...I could have been unreachable. Or...a Velociraptor could have eaten him alive. Like I said, it could have been way worse.

More when we know more....
